20 Jan 2022: Transcelestial has partnered with Hong Kong-based systems integrator, Cyber On-Air, to introduce its wireless laser communications to new industries including fixed and mobile network operators, government, education, hospitality, retail, transportation and small to medium enterprises.

Hong Kong’s reliance on fiber optic cables and high-speed microwave networks is growing at an exponential rate, spurred on mainly through increasing deployment of citywide 5G, higher streaming demand during COVID pandemic and Industry 4.0 transformations across major and minor enterprises.
Given the high cost of deploying a single fiber core into any building owing to labour, ducting and building fees mainly, many operators and providers are looking for wireless high-speed alternatives.
Certain microwave technologies in the E-band spectrum do provide up to 10Gbps at very short (< 1 km) distances reliably but during Hong Kong’s typhoon season, areas with major spectrum interference and at longer than 1km distances, the performance is massively sub par.
Transcelestial’s technology does not use fiber cables and relies on wireless lasers instead, which makes it possible to beam high-speed data by simply placing CENTAURI devices between buildings, poles, or building to pole to connect with a laser beam.
Cyber On-Air’s specialisation in wireless communication solutions and access to organisations – such as fixed and mobile network operators, government, education, hospitality, retail, transportation and small to medium enterprises – in Hong Kong will mean Transcelestial’s solution will be sold, deployed and supported by a local specialised partner.
